I am an amateur photographer that enjoys documenting what he finds during hikes, rides, and various travels.

I started learning photography in the 10th grade. Long before digital cameras existed, we learned to load black & white film in to canisters, shoot the roll, develop the negatives, and print the results. In college, I briefly ran the school’s darkroom and processed film and prints for the newspaper and yearbook. I was drawn to the simplicity and solitude of each step in the process. But simple does not mean easy. There were many details to manage and they all had to come together to get a quality image.

After leaving school, I found that I did not have the space for a personal darkroom nor did I have the money to support all the costs. For many years, I muddled along occasionally taking snapshots but never seriously. Eventually, digital became cheap enough and good enough to dive back in. I started taking more pictures but the new “darkroom” (digital post-processing) held me uncheck. I’ve learned more about that and finally have images that I feel are worth sharing. The process continues.
